the diffrence of two numbers,a and b,is 21,the diffrence of five times a and two times b is 18 what are the values of a and b
Triss [41]

Answer:

a=-8

b=-29

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's assume

first number is a

second number is b

the difference of two numbers,a and b,is 21

so, we get

a-b=21

we can solve for 'a'

a=b+21

the difference of five times a and two times b is 18

so, we get

5a-2b=18

now, we can plug 'a'

5(b+21)-2b=18

now, we can solve for b

5b+105-2b=18

3b+105=18

3b=-87

b=-29

now, we can find 'a'

a=-29+21

a=-8

The value of y varies directly with x. When y = 75, 7 = 1. What is the value of y when x is 272
kow [346]
I’m assuming that 7 means x, and honestly all you have to do is multiply. x= 1 , y= 75.. so just multiply 75 and 272. The answer is 20,400.

Irene treated her coworkers show me that cost $30 I renew that when the bill came she would have to pay Lewisburg sale tax of 10
baherus [9]

Answer:

$39

Step-by-step explanation:

The cost of the treat was $30, with the addition of a 10% sale tax and a 20% tip on the original $30.

So, total of (10 + 20) = 30% extra cost she has to pay on the original $30.

Hence, the total amount to be paid for the meal will be

30(1 + \frac{30}{100}) = 39 dollars. (Answer)

A rabbit moves n times as fast as a squirrel . A fox moves m times as fast as a rabbit . The fox moves how many times as fast as
Naya [18.7K]

Answer:

the fox moves mn times as fast as the squirrel

Step-by-step explanation:

the easiest way to do problems like this is by using hypothetical values that make sense (it's best to avoid 0, 1, and 2)

we'll say that n = 3 and m = 4

so if the squirrel moves at s pace, then the rabbit moves at ns, or 3s.

if the fox moves at m (4) times the rabbit's pace (3s), then it moves at 4(3s)

then just switch out the numbers for their variables, giving you m(ns)

remember that s simply represents the squirrel's pace, we cannot replace it with a number in this case, so switch it with the idea/value it represents

and there you go, mn times the squirrel's pace
