Consider a collection of envelopes consisting of 3 red envelopes, 1 blue envelope, 3 green envelopes, and 2 yellow envelopes.

If three envelopes are selected at random, without replacement, determine the probability that they are all green envelopes.

Total envelopes: 3 + 1 + 3 + 2 = 9 with a total of 3 green ones.

Probability of picking green first: 3 out of 9 = 3/9 = 1/3

There are 8 envelopes left, with 2 green ones.

Probability of picking a green one is 2 out of 8 = 2/8 = 1/4

There are 7 envelopes left and 1 green one.

Probability of picking green is 1 out of 7 = 1/7

Probability of picking all 3 = 1/3 x 1/4 x 1/7 = 1/84

What is 3 + -5= and is it a positive or negative number and how?
Natalka [10]
It is -2.  This is negative.  For instance, if you had 3 candies and your mother took away 5, you would not only have 0 candies, but you would owe your mother 2.  This is expressed as a negative number.  Please mark Brainliest!!!

Given a∥b , and c is not parallel to a or b, which statements must be true?
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

1. We have been given that a∥b , and c is neither parallel to a nor b.

Let us see which of our given options are correct.

A. m∠7 can not be equal to m∠11  as line c is not parallel to line a.

B. m∠5 can not be equal to m∠12 as line c is not parallel to line b.

C. By alternate interior angles m∠4=m∠5  as ∠4 is inside line a and ∠5 is inside line b. Both angles are on the opposite sides of transversal.

D. Since we know that corresponding angles are congruent. We can see that ∠5 corresponds to ∠1, therefore, m∠1=m∠5.

Therefore, Option C and D are correct choices.

2. We have been given that  AB∥CD and m∠4=85°. We are asked to find measure of ∠5.

Since we know that same side interior angles are supplementary. In our figure we can see that  ∠4 and ∠5 are same side interior angles.

Therefore, measure of ∠5 will be 95 degrees.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. is m∠4=m∠5 by the alternate interior angle theorem.

2. Angles 4 & 3 are supplementary angles or linear pair and so they have to equal 180 and 180 - 85= 95 3 & 5 are corresponding angles so 95 should be your answer.

Gary spends 10 per week on the internet and 13 hours per week playing video games. If Gary has five hours of free time per day w
Natalka [10]

Answer:

460% of free time is spent on internet and games .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The time spent by Gary on internet = 10 hours per week

The time spent by Gary on video games = 13 hours per week

So, Total time spent by Gary = 10 hours per week + 13 hours per week

                                                = 23 hours per week

The free time which Gary have = 5 hours

Now, percentage of free time spent on internet and games = x %

So, x % of 5 = 23

or, x % = \frac{23}{5}

∴  x% = 4.6

I.e x = 460 %

Hence  460% of free time is spent on internet and games . Answer

assume x and y are both differentiable functions of t. find dx/dt given x=-1 and dy/dt=8 for the relation: 4x^2+3y^3=28
melomori [17]

Given:

x and y are both differentiable functions of t.

4x^2+3y^3=28

x=-1\text{ and }\dfrac{dy}{dt}=8

To find:

The value of \dfrac{dx}{dt}.

Solution:

We have,

4x^2+3y^3=28       ...(i)

At x=-1,

4(-1)^2+3y^3=28

4+3y^3=28

3y^3=28-4

3y^3=24

Divide both sides by 3.

y^3=8

Taking cube root on both sides.

y=2

So, y=2 at x=-1.

Differentiate (i) with respect to t.

4(2x\dfrac{dx}{dt})+3(3y^2\dfrac{dy}{dt})=0

Putting x=-1, y=2 and \dfrac{dy}{dt}=8, we get

4(2(-1)\dfrac{dx}{dt})+3(3(2)^28)=0

-8\dfrac{dx}{dt}+9(4)(8)=0

-8(\dfrac{dx}{dt}-9(4))=0

Divide both sides by -8.

\dfrac{dx}{dt}-36=0

\dfrac{dx}{dt}=36

Therefore, the value of 4x^2+3y^3=28 is 36.
