The cardiovascular diseases are caused not only due to poor lifestyle choices but also because of risk factors such as age, high blood pressure, high sugar levels, raised cholesterol levels, air pollution, or due to genetic history in the family of diseased.

Further Explanation:

The circulatory system or the cardiovascular system is responsible for the supply of blood to the body parts. It includes veins, arteries, heart, and capillaries. The diseases which involve the blood vessels or the heart are called cardiovascular diseases (CVD). The various CVDs are heart failure, congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease (CAD), stroke, hypertensive heart disease, and periphery artery disease. The different heart disease occurs as result of different underlying mechanisms. For example, stroke and CAD are caused due to smoking, increased blood pressure, poor diet, and increased alcohol consumption whereas, congenital heart disease is present since birth and results in the defective heart structure.

The various risk factors or causes for CVD are explained below:

 • Age: As the person ages, the serum cholesterol level also increases which causes heart diseases in elderly people. The structural and mechanical properties associated with the vascular walls also change with aging. This makes arteries less elastic which results in reduced compliance of arteries causing coronary artery diseases.
 • Genetics: A person is prone to heart disease if his/her parents acquire the disease as it can be genetically transmitted.
 • Sex: A middle-aged man is more prone to heart disease as compared to a woman. It might be due to difference in height, weight, heart rate, body fat content, or stroke volume.
 • Air pollution: The exposure to particulate matter increases the risk of inflammation and atherosclerosis. It also causes thickening of the carotid artery, reduced heart rate, and irregular heart rhythm.
 • Poor lifestyle choices: The poor lifestyle choices involvethe consumption of alcohol and tobacco, smoking, poor diet, and physical inactivity. The direct or indirect inhalation of tobacco smoke attributes to cardiovascular diseases. The physical inactivity increases the risk of obesity, overweight, and blood sugar levels which eventually affects the heart.

Why platelet not active to clotting blood before we have injury?
adoni [48]

Answer:

Platelets are not activated before an injury occurs because that activation is inhibited while they are circulating and there is no damage to the vacular wall.

Explanation:

Platelets are responsible for forming a haemostatic stopper, at the end of the blood coagulation process. These blood components have the ability to go to the place where the vessel wall is damaged and clump together to prevent blood from leaking out.

Platelet migration and activation occurs when the vascular wall endothelium is injured. When this happens, some substances are released - such as adrenaline, ADP and thromboxane A2, among others - and promote platelet activation.

However, this process should not occur before an injury occurs, as it can promote the formation of thrombi that can circulate in the blood vessels and block them.

An inhibitory mechanism, dependent on nitric oxide and prostaglandins, prevents platelets from being activated and clumping in the absence of injury.
