Since 1 is a perfect square we can factor and solve

2x^2 +7x +3 = 0\\(2x+1)(x+3)=0\\x=-1/2 or x = -3

If b^2 - 4ac is a perfect square, then the equation can be solved by factoring.

2x^2 + 7x + 3 = 0

a = 2, b = 7, c = 3

b^2 - 4ac = 7^2 - (4 x 2 x 3) = 49 - 24 = 25
