During anaphase, the cell is elongated and the pair of chromosomes is drawn to the opposite sites of the cells, getting ready for the cell division that occurs at the next stage. Therefore, at anaphase the DNA is duplicated and the cells of the Tasmanian devil would have 28 chromosomes at this stage.
