Answer:

1. Two friends Max and Mary are standing at the same spot in a garden. Max takes 5 steps backwards and then again 3 more steps backward. So, what is the current position of Max with respect to the spot where Mary is standing?

Solving this, we know that if the initial spot is assumed to be zero, then first Max took 5 steps backwards that means -5 and then again 3 steps that gives -3.

So, we get total steps backwards as (-5)+(-3)=-8

Hence, Max is 8 steps backwards with respect to the spot where Mary is standing.

2. A basketball team played two games. In the first game the team lost 6 points and in the second game they lost another 6 points. What is the change in the score of the team after these two games?

We will solve this like (-6)+(-6)=-12

John owes 15 dollars to Bill, then another 2 dollars to Joey. How much money does John have?

Since John has 0 dollars to give, he has (-15)+(-2) =-17 dollars (as 15+2=17, so the same can be applied negatively) as the first 17 dollars he gets has to be given to Bill and Joey

Hey there,

Your questions states: What is the value of the expression

                                          3.6 x 10^8 over 1.2 x 10 ^3?

3.6 x 10^8 = 360,000,000

1.2 x 10^3 = 1,200

Your correct answer would be . . .

\frac{360,000,000}{1,200}

Each side of the cube is 8cm and the mass of the cube is 1,536g. What is the density of the cube?
skad [1K]

Answer:

The volume is 8^3 = 512 cm^3, and the mass is 1,536g. So the density is 1,536/512 = 0.003 g/cm^3. (Note that the number of significant digits should be 1, as 8 cm being the side length of the cube is in one significant digit.)

The length of the hypotenuse of a 30°-60°-90° triangle is 7. Find the perimeter
Sedbober [7]
Rules for a 30-60-90 right triangle:
hyp = 2 * short leg
Long leg = sqrt(3) * short leg
Given:
hyp = 7
7 = 2*short leg
divide both sides by 2
7/2 = short leg
long leg = sqrt(3) * short leg
long leg = sqrt(3) * (7/2)
long leg = 6.06
P= s1 + s2 + s3
P = 7 + 3.5 + 6.06
P = 16.56 units      (Decimal approximation)
P = 10.5 + 3.5sqrt(3) units       (Exact value)
