In an ecological pyramid, what happens to energy, biomass and the number of species as you move up. why?

In an ecological pyramid, when you move up, biomass and the number of species, they all decrease as energy is lost when it moves up each trophic level.

Only 10 percent of the energy at any trophic level is transferred to the next level and the remaining energy is lost through metabolic processes in the form of heat. Each trophic level needs enough energy to sustain it, and hence, the competition for resources rises which causes a decrease in the number of organisms.

How did the theory of biogenesis lead the way for the germ theory of disease?
NeX [460]

Explanation:

Originally people believed that disease were the consequences of someone's sins because they are of the believe that living things exist spontaneously not until Louis Pasteur and Koch confirmed the biogenesis theory, he performed several experiments to prove that living cells are produced only from another living cell. This helped to validate the germ theory of disease that disease only develops from microorganisms or specific germs.

Which species concept invokes the importance of disruptive natural selection to maintain a pair of similar species found in diff
gogolik [260]

Given what we know, we can confirm that the ecological species concept invokes the importance of disruptive natural selection to maintain a pair of similar species found in different, but nearby, environments.

What is the ecological species concept?

 • This concept includes the idea that each species will occupy a specific niche in an ecosystem.
 • This refers to a specific role in each ecosystem.
 • This will cause a species that cannot compete with another to adapt to nearby ecosystems in order to occupy a similar niche without competing.

Therefore, we can confirm that the statement in the question accurately describes the ecological species concept in that this concept involves the evolution of species to occupy a specific niche in each ecosystem, and if the niche is already taken they will adapt to nearby ecosystems.
