The formula to find any term of an an arithmetic sequence is given by
a _{n}=a _{1}=(n-1)d,
where we have first term a_{1}=8,
and d which is the common difference , and n is the term we need to find (in our case is 20)
the difference d=3, as you see each number is the previous minus 3
for S20=8+(20-1)*(-3)=8+(19)*(-3)=8-57=-49
S20=-49, this the 20th term

Is this a function ? please explain your reasoning. <br><br> someone please help me !!
Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer:

yeah thats a function

Step-by-step explanation:

if you were to draw a vertical line through any point on that graph, you could tell that there would be no point above another, which makes this data set a function. basically, there must be no more than one y-value for every x-value in a data set for it to be considered a function.

abebe is 12 years old and his sister aster is 2 years old. In how years abebe be exactly twice as old as aster
Maslowich

Answer:

8 years

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Currently</u>

Abebe → 12 years old

Aster → 2 years

With every passing year, each of them will be 1 year older hence the difference between their ages will remain constant.

Difference in ages

= 12 -2

= 10

Let the age of Aster be x years old when Abebe is twice her age.

Abebe → 2x years old

Aster → x years old

Difference in age

= 2x -x

= x

x= 10

Aster is 10 years old when Abebe is twice her age.

Number of years passed

= 10 -2

= 8

Thus, Abebe will be twice as old as her sister in 8 years.
