The photosynthetic function is carried out in the chloroplast. All of his reactions are very complex. It is possible to distinguish two phases:
* A photochemical phase that takes place in the membrane and lumen of the thylakoid. It allows the capture of light and the conversion of light energy into chemical energy that can be used in biochemical metabolism.
* A biochemical phase that takes place in the stroma. Thanks to the energy produced by the photochemical phase, the carbon dioxide of the atmosphere is incorporated in organic carbon molecules.
These molecules then constitute the raw material of the whole plant organism.
