Answer and Explanation:

Psoriasis is a skin inflammatory disease relatively common, chronic and non-contagious. Is mainly manifested by cutaneous lesions, usually as thick, well-delimited, reddish plaques with scaling that can appear anywhere on the body.  It is cyclic, which means that the presents symptoms disappear and reappear periodically. Its cause is unknown, but it is known that it may be related to the immune system, interactions with the environment and genetic susceptibility. The disease is not contagious and contact with patients don't need to be avoided.

The symptons are : red spots, minor residual white or dark spots after injury;  dry and cracked skin; sometimes with bleeding;  itching, burning and pain;  thick, ridged, unglued nails with punctate depressions;  swelling and stiffness in the joints.

Currently available treatments range from antiinflammatory (and other types of drugs) topical medications (creams and ointments) and phototherapy (light baths) to oral and injectable medications.

Emotional stress is a well-known triggering factor and for this reason psoriasis is often considered to be a purely emotional illness, which is not true, stress is just one of the triggering factors. It is known that reducing anxiety is important in controlling the disease.
