Psoriasis is a skin inflammatory disease relatively common, chronic and non-contagious. The symptons are
: red spots, minor residual white or dark spots after injury; dry and cracked skin; sometimes with bleeding; itching, burning and pain; thick, ridged, unglued nails with punctate depressions; swelling and stiffness in the joints.
Currently available treatments range from antiinflammatory (and other types of drugs) topical medications (creams and ointments) and phototherapy (light baths) to oral and injectable medications.
Emotional stress is a well-known triggering factor and for this reason psoriasis is often considered to be a purely emotional illness, which is not true, stress is just one of the triggering factors. It is known that reducing anxiety is important in controlling the disease.
