Answer:
The answer is:
D. US troops, following orders from President Polk, claimed an area of disputed land for the United States which caused an attack by Mexico in retaliation
Explanation:
The major cause of the war was actually the annexation of Texas by the US in 1845. Among tensions, skirmishes and a failed diplomatic mission, president Polk ordered American troops commanded by Gen. Zachary Taylor to occupy the disputed zone between Río Nueces and Río Grande (Río Bravo for Mexicans) in January 1846. Taylor´s men were attacked by Mexican troops in April killing or injuring 16 of them. Polk claimed Mexican soldiers had attacked US troops and "shed American blood upon American soil." He requested a declaration of war. Congress overwhelmingly voted to declare war on Mexico on May 13, 1846.
D. They were turned over to France and Britain . Germany was treated horridly after both world wars
It is important not to concentrate too much power in one branch of government because then the laws will be practically unstable and inefficient. If there were too much power in the Executive Branch, people would be very accusatory and rights would be extremely limited. If the Legislative Branch had too much power, nobody would be able to truly define the laws and enforce them based on the definitions of the laws created. If the Judicial Branch had too much power, there probably wouldn’t be a lot of laws made or enforced, and controversy would be very high within the Courts. It would be necessary for one branch to exercise more power than another branch if the case defender and antagonist disagreed constantly. An example of this is Marbury v. Madison case, where the power of judicial review was exercised by the Judicial Branch to interpret who won the case (which in that case was James Madison). Another instance would be the Worcester v. Georgia case, where the power of interpretation was used to define the final decision that Cherokees were not obligated to follow Georgia’s laws.
Accounts of the Boston Massacre differ because colonists and British citizens saw the massacre as two different things. Also some colonists like John Adams who fought for their innocence in court saw it different than most of the colonists. The colonists saw this as an event that really shows that the British are against them while John Adams saw that the people had something to do with it and that the British deserved a fair trial just like everyone else. Colonists used this as propaganda to convince Loyalists and Neutralists to join the Patriot side. An example of propaganda is the engraving that Paul Revere made (The Bloody Massacre) even thought this was the least massacrey massacre in history. After all a massacre is defined as a slaughter of a large number of people. Only five people were killed that night including one freed black man named Crispus Attucks.
Hope this helps!
