Evidence used to support spontaneous generation was the observation that foods over time become covered in maggots or fungal and

bacterial growth. The inference behind spontaneous generation is that there is no “parent” organism. Write this inference as a hypothesis using an if–then sentence that suggests a way of testing it.

A hypothesis that may be used to test the idea of spontaneous generation may be:

If there are no parent organisms present, then there will be organisms present in a container.

This hypothesis was tested in order to disprove the theory of spontaneous generation. A closed jar with meat was left and no maggots were observed, while an open jar with the same meat had maggots in it after some time.

Which choice incorrectly pairs the common name of the vitamin with its chemical name?
klio [65]

The right answer is vitamin C—citric acid.

Vitamin C or ascorbic acid protects against cellular aging, is essential for the immune defenses and increases the assimilation of iron of plant origin.

Citrate is a biological molecule found in all living organisms because it is involved in the Krebs cycle (or citrate cycle) to produce energy.

what is difference between the name of an object versus the chemical formula?please answer my question I'm trying that from thre
Step2247 [10]

Answer:

Assuming you mean in a compound of elements: A name is just what you call it, and the chemical formula is what elements it is made of.

Explanation:

Take sodium chloride (Salt) for example. It's name is sodium chloride, but its chemical formula is NaCl. Na= Sodium, and Cl = Chlorine. So one sodium ion and one Chlorine ion create NaCl. Na+Cl=NaCl. And the name for the product of the formula is Sodium Chloride.

Another example is H2O (Water). H=Hydrogen and O=Oxygen. There are 2 hydrogens and one oxygen in H2O. H+H+O=H2O. The name for the formula is water.

Describe the beneficial uses of bacterial toxins in medicine.
worty [1.4K]
The beneficial uses of bacterial toxins in medicine are more and more used lately. For example, Botulinum toxin is a toxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum which has paralytic effects (injection of this toxin into muscle relax specific muscles). Botulinum toxin accomplishes his effects on the neuromuscular junction where he prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (Ach). Utilization of this toxin is in the treatment of various muscle spasms. It is also used in the treatment of migraines. Diphtheria toxin is also one of the toxins used for medical purposes for the treatment of cutaneous and non-Hodgkin T-cell lymphomas. Some bacterial toxins can be used in the treatment of tumours. For example, immunotoxin, which is protein made by fusion of modified antibody and toxin. The antibody binds to an antigen on the target cell, the toxin then enters via endocytosis and kills the cell. Commonly used bacterial toxins in immunotoxins are Diphtheria toxin and the Pseudomonas exotoxin.
