Find the average rate of change for the given function from x = −2 to x = 1. Graph of f of x equals x minus 5
Nataliya [291]
Average rate of change=slope

f(x)=x-5
f(x) could be subsitututed  with y so
y=x-5
this is in y=mx+b form where m=slope and b=y-intercept
y=1x-5
slope=1
average rate of change=1/1
if x=-2 then
y=-2-5
y=-7

if x=1 then
y=1-5
y=-4

the graph of y=x-5 is included in the attachment

Jasmine can oil the lanes in a bowling alley in 10 hours. One day her friend joe helped her and it only took 4.44 hours. Find ho
uranmaximum [27]

Jasmine's rate is 1/10 alleys per hour

Together their rate is 1/4.44 alleys per hour.

Joe's rate must be

1/4.44 - 1/10 = 139/1110  alleys per hour

It would take Joe

1110/139 ≈ 7.99 hours to do an alley alone.

Let's call it 8 hours.
