Why do you think the workers in these factories accepted these conditions and did not quit? in the story "The Jungle"
netineya [11]
They probably had no other choice. During that time, it was hard to get a job with a solid pay for many people (especially immigrants). If they decided to quit, they would have to find other jobs, which probably have bad conditions as well. If they couldn’t find any good jobs, then they would basically become homeless and wouldn’t be able to pay for themselves and their families. (Back then, families were much more important.)

What does the Eighth Amendment prohibit?
strojnjashka [21]

Answer

The Eighth Amendment  prohibits the federal government from imposing excessive bail, excessive fines, or cruel and unusual punishments.

Explanation

The Eighth Amendment was adopted, as part of the Bill of Rights, in 1791.

The Eighth Amendment of the Constitution states: 'Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.' The amendment is meant to safeguard Americans against excessive punishments. This provision was written in because of a case where a man named Titus Oates lied and caused many innocent people because of it.

What concerns did President Monroe have about other countries?
S_A_V [24]

Answer:

He first reiterated the traditional U.S. policy of neutrality with regard to European wars and conflicts. He then declared that the United States would not accept the recolonization of any country by its former European master, though he also avowed non-interference with existing European colonies in the Americas. I hope this is helpful :)
