Answer:

30 and 6

Explanation:

Let the numbers be x and y. Then

x+y=36
x−y=24

Adding the two equations together gives

2x=60

∴x=30

Substituting this back into either of the equations gives y=6

Sum means add.
difference means subtract.

x + y = 36
x - y = 24 Just to make it complete, I finish the problem. Add the two equations.
=======
2x = 60 Divide by 2
x = 60/2
x = 30

x + y = 36 Substitute for x
30 + y = 36 Subtract 30
y = 36 - 30
y = 6

So the solution point is (30,6)

You need 2 cups of orange juice to make 3 quarts of punch. how much cups of orange juice do you need to make 3 gallons of punch?
AleksAgata [21]
To answer the question above, convert first the gallons to quarts. Each gallon is composed of 4 quarts such that 3 gallons is equal to 12 quarts. Dividing this value by 3 and multiplying by 2, the answer would be 8. Thus, 8 cups will be needed to make the juice.

The sum of three numbers is 1,349. The greatest number is three times the least number. The third number is 133 less than twice
ss7ja [257]

Answer:

741,361,247

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the numbers be x,y,z and x>y>z

x+y+z=1349

x=3z

y=2z-133

3z+2z-133+z=1349

6 z=1349+133

6 z=1482

z=247

x=3*247=741

y=2*247-133=494-133=361
