What are the roles of biosphere and ecosystem

Biology

There are many different types of ecosystems. Climate conditions determine which ecosystems are found in a particular location. A biome encompasses all of the ecosystems that have similar climate and organisms. Every ecosystem has the same general roles that living creatures fill. It’s just the organisms that fill those niches that are different. For example, every ecosystem must have some organisms that produce food in the form of chemical energy. These organisms are primarily algae in the oceans, plants on land, and bacteria at hydrothermal vents.

The biosphere is as important as life itself because it is all of life. Without the biosphere, the Earth would be a lifeless planet such as Mars or Venus.

Chloroplast structure and function
Lana71 [14]

Answers:

A) The membranes of the Chloroplast are the

1) Thylakoid membrane 2) Envelope membrane

B) Calvin cycle occurs within the stroma, while light reactions occur within the thylakoid membrane.

Explanation:

Generally, the chloroplast is made up of the; Thylakoid membrane and Envelop membrane. The thylakoid membrane is basically the region for light absorption, thus making it the site for light reactions within the chloroplast.

Calvin cycle, which occurs in the stroma, involves light independent reactions. It occurs shortly after the light-dependent reactions, and further breaks down ATP and NADPH, products of the light reactions.

The stroma is located outside the thylakoid membrane.

For the remaining listed organelles:

1) The Cytosol- It’s the liquid space within the cell. The chloroplast can be found floating within the cytosol of any involved plant cell.

2) Thylakoid space- The space within the thylakoid.

The correct sequence for aerobic metabolic breakdown of glucose is
Luba_88 [7]

Answer:

a. glycolysis—preparatory reaction--cirtric acid cycle--electron transport system

Explanation:

 • Glycolysis is the first stage of cellular respiration that occurs in the cytoplasm of the cell. During glycolysis one 6 carbon glucose is converted into two molecules of 3 carbon pyruvic acid or pyruvate.
 • In the preparatory reaction, the pyruvate converted into a two-carbon molecule called acetyl CoA. In this reaction, a carbon dioxide molecule is released and a molecule of NADH is released.
 • The citric acid cycle begins with the reaction of the acetyl CoA with a four-carbon molecule in the mitochondrisl matrix. It goes through a cycle of reactions regenerating the four-carbon starting molecule. ATP, NADH and FADH₂ are produced.
 • The electron transport system is the terminal step of aerobic respiration that operates on the inner membrane of the mitochondria. Reduced coenzymes NADH and FADH₂ move along electron transport system release high-energy electrons and produce ATP.
