5(y)+5(2)

I got this using the distributive property, so we distribute the 5 to both y and 2 (basically multiplying both by 5)

Find the circumference and area of a circle A with a diameter of 26 inches.
makkiz [27]

Answer:

Circumference: 81.681 in; Area: 530.929 in

Step-by-step explanation:

To find circumference we use the formula pi x diameter. Which in this case is pi x 26 in, or approximately 81.681 in.

For the area, we use pi x r^2. r = 1/2 d, so r = 13in. Therefore, the area is equal to 169 x pi in, which is about 530.929 in.

The area of the shaded segment is 100cm^2. Calculate the value of r.
Reil [10]
Hello,

The formula for finding the area of a circular region is: A=  \frac{ \alpha *r^{2} }{2}

then:
A_{1} = \frac{80*r^{2} }{2}

With the two radius it is formed an isosceles triangle, so, we must obtain its area, but first we obtain the height and the base.

cos(40)= \frac{h}{r}  \\  \\ h= r*cos(40)\\ \\ \\ sen(40)= \frac{b}{r} \\ \\ b=r*sen(40)

Now we can find its area:
A_{2}=2* \frac{b*h}{2}  \\  \\ A_{2}= [r*sen(40)][r*cos(40)]\\  \\A_{2}= r^{2}*sen(40)*cos(40)

The subtraction of the two areas is 100cm^2, then:

A_{1}-A_{2}=100cm^{2} \\ (40*r^{2})-(r^{2}*sen(40)*cos(40) )=100cm^{2} \\ 39.51r^{2}=100cm^{2} \\ r^{2}=2.53cm^{2} \\ r=1.59cm

Answer: r= 1.59cm

In what direction does the function f(x)=−(14x−1)(4x+1) open? Explain.
Svetradugi [14.3K]

Answer: Direction opens downward

Step-by-step explanation:

X-Intercept: (1/14,0),(-1/4,0)

Y-Intercept: (0,1)

Find the vertex using x= -b/2a

Plug it into the vertex form = y=a(x-h)^2 +k

H,K will identify the direction.
