Each bicycle gives a profit of around 60 dollars.

2400/60= 40

The store must sell around 40 bicycles every month.

Answer:

x ≈ - 6.74, 0.74

Step-by-step explanation:

x² + 6x - 5 = 0 ( add 5 to both sides )

x² + 6x = 5

To complete the square

add ( half the coefficient of the x- term )² to both sides

x² + 2(3)x + 9 = 5 + 9

(x + 3)² = 14 ( take square root of both sides )

x + 3 = ± \sqrt{14} ( subtract 3 from both sides )

x = - 3 ± \sqrt{14}

Then

x = - 3 - \sqrt{14} ≈ - 6.74 ( to the nearest hundredth )

x = - 3 + \sqrt{14} ≈ 0.74 ( to the nearest hundredth )

One Way:
We can change the mixed number to a decimal for comparing.

1\frac{1}{4} m = \frac{5}{4} m = 1.25 m

1.4 m     >    1.25 m
Darren   >     Luke

Darren's jump was higher by (1.4-1.25) 0.15 m

Or another way change the decimal to a fraction and the mixed to an improper fraction too.

1\frac{1}{4} = \frac{5}{4} (Luke)
1.4 = \frac{7}{5}                               (Darren)
We need a common denominator to compare
\frac{5*5}{4*5}       (Luke)
\frac{7*4}{5*4}       (Darren)
\frac{25}{20}          (Luke)
\frac{28}{20}          (Darren)

\frac{28}{20}  >   \frac{25}{20}
        Darren           >            Luke

By:
\frac{28}{20} - \frac{25}{20} = \frac{3}{20}
Which is also by 0.15 m
Darren jumps higher and by 0.15 m

For each of the following sequences, • Give a formula for the nth term in the sequence, • Give a recursive definition for the se
Andrew [12]

Answer:

(a)n^{th} = n

f(1) = 1

f(n) = f(n-1) + 1

(b)n^{th} = 2^{n-1}

f(1) = 1

f(n) = f(n-1) * 2

(c)n^{th} = n!

f(1) = 1

f(n) = f(n-1) * n

Step-by-step explanation:

(a) This is a sequence of consecutive number

n^{th} = n

f(1) = 1

f(n) = f(n-1) + 1

(b) This is a sequence of 2 to the power of n - 1. The next number is twice time of this number

n^{th} = 2^{n-1}

f(1) = 1

f(n) = f(n-1) * 2

(c) This is factorial sequence. Where the next number is this number multiplied by n^{th}

n^{th} = n!

f(1) = 1

f(n) = f(n-1) * n
