Hello!

The answers are:

First box: 7 times the cube of the sum of x and 8

Second box: 8 added to the cube of 7x.

Third box: 8 added to 7 and x cubed.

Fourth box: the cube of the sum of 7x and 8.

Why?

We are given the expression and we need to macth to the correct verbal description, so we have:

First box:

7(x+8)x^{3}

It's 7 times the cube of the sum of x and 8

Second box:

(7x)^{3}+8

We have that "7x" is cubed and then, added to 8, so, it's 8 added to the cube of 7x.

Third box:

7x^{3}+8

We have "7" times "x" cubed and added to 8, so it's 8 added to 7 and x cubed.

Fourth box:

(7x+8)x^{3}

We have "7x" added to 8, and the expression is cubed, so, it's the cube of the sum of 7x and 8.

Have a nice day!

You will spend no less than $80 on a gift. You have already spent $50 on part of the gift. Let s be the amount of money you will
GalinKa [24]
Assuming you have to create an equation...
s is what you have to figure out so it is the subject of the rule
s=
you now need to find out what to do with the other side
you are taking 50 FROM 80 so
s=80-50
s=30
your answer is 30

Solve appropriate word problems by modeling them with linear equations in two variables.
Nesterboy [21]

The cost of production equation is:

C = 10n + 20000

Solution:

The equation representing the cost, C, of producing n tires at Royal Tires Co. can be written as:

C = mn + f

Where,

C = cost

n = number of tires

f = company's fixed cost

It costs $30,000 to produce 1,000 tires while it costs $50,000 to produce 3,000 tires

Therefore,

30, 000 = m(1000) + f

50, 000 = m(3000) + f

Which is,

1000m + f = 30000 ------- eqn 1

3000m + f = 50000 ------- eqn 2

Subtract eqn 1 from eqn 2

3000m + f = 50000

1000m + f = 30000

( - ) -------------------

2000m = 20,000

m = 10

Substitute m = 10 in eqn 1

1000(10) + f = 30000

f = 30000 - 10000

f = 20,000

Thus the equation is:

C = 10n + 20000
