The coordinated, rhythmic, serial contraction of smooth muscle that forces food through the digestive tract is called peristalsis. It is a series of contractions of the muscles that is wave like which moves the food into the different parts of the digestive system. It begins in the esophagus when a food is being swallowed. These are involuntary motion of the circular and longitudinal muscles. It happens in the esophagus, the stomach and the intestines. It is the central nervous system that initiates and controls this process. This motion is not only limited to the digestive tract but can also be found on other systems in the body.

Xylem tissue is found throughout the plant because not only does it transport water, but it also transports the nutrients that the plant needs for different processes. How do prophase 1 and metaphase 1 play in important role in the genetic diversity of the daughter cells produced?
luda_lava [24]
In prophase 1:
Chromosomes become visible, crossing-over occurs, the nucleolus disappears, the meiotic spindle forms, and the nuclear envelope disappears.
In metaphase 1:
The pairs of chromosomes (bivalents) become arranged on the metaphase plate and are attached to the now fully formed meiotic spindle. The centrioles are at opposite poles of the cell.
I hope my answer has come to your help. God bless and have a nice day ahead!
