Let x = shirts, y = trousers, z = hats

Forming Equation 1
4x+4y+2z  = 560
Simplifying it to,
2x + 2y + z = 280

Forming Equation 2
9x + 9y + 6z = 1290
Simpifying it to,
3x + 3y + 2z = 430

<span>(1) 2x + 2y + z = 280</span>
(2) <span>3x + 3y + 2z = 430

Doing (2) - (1)
3x + 3y + 2z = 430
2x + 2y + z = 280

Answer is
x + y + z = 150</span>

Pedro has created the function f(x)= 4x-3/2 to represent the number of assingments he has completed where x represents the numbe
Law Incorporation [45]
The given function is
f(x) = 4x - 3/2
where
f(x) = number of assignments completed
x =  number of weeks required to complete the assignments

We want to find f⁻¹ (30) as an estimate of the number of weeks required to complete 30 assignments.
The procedure is as follows:

1. Set y = f(x)
   y = 4x - 3/2

2. Exchange x and y
   x = 4y - 3/2

3. Solve for y
   4y = x + 3/2
   y = (x +3/2)/4

4. Set y equal to f⁻¹ (x)
  f⁻¹ (x) = (x + 3/2)/4

5. Find f⁻¹ (30)
  f⁻¹ (30) = (30 + 3/2)/4 = 63/8 = 8 (approxmately)

Answer:
Pedro needs about 8 weeks to complete 30 assignments.

A bone fragment has 67% of the parent Pb-210 remaining. The half-life of Pb-210 is 22 years. How old is the bone fragment?
Korolek [52]

To solve this question we will use two important formulas.

The first formula involves the calculation of the decay constant, k which is to be found as:

k=\frac{0.6931}{T_{\frac{1}{2}}}

where T_{\frac{1}{2}} is the half life of Pb-210 which is given to be 22 years in the question.

Thus, k=\frac{0.6931}{22}\approx0.0315

Now, we will use the second formula which is called the function of decay formula and is given as:

N = N_{0} e^{-kt}

where N percentage of Pb-210 remaining in the bone at present, which in our case is 67% or 0.67

N_{0} percentage of Pb-210 to start with, which is always 100% or 1.

Plugging in all these values in the decay formula we are supposed to find the time, t.

0.67=1\times e^{-0.0315t}

Taking natural log on both sides we get:

ln(0.67)=-0.0315t

\approx-0.4005=-0.0315t

\therefore t=\frac{0.4005}{0.0315}

t\approx12.71 years

Therefore the bone fragment is about 12.71 years old.
