D= distance
t= time
s= speed

FORMULA
Distance= speed * time

STEP 1:
Find total distance
Jim's D + John's D= 3 miles

STEP 2:
Distance= (Jim's speed * time) + (John's speed * time)
D= 4t + 5t
3 miles= 9t
divide both sides by 9
3/9= t
reduce by 3
1/3 hour= t

STEP 3:
1 hour= 60 minutes
=1/3 * 60
=(60/3)
= 20 minutes

ANSWER: They will travel 20 minutes before they meet.

Hope this helps! If it does, please mark me brainliest! :)

I don’t understand how to solve this graph.<br> (Y=MX+B)
Alla [95]

Answer:

The equation of line shown in the graph is \mathbf{y=-\frac{1}{2}x -1}

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find equation of the line shown in graph.

The equation of line will be in slope-intercept form y=mx+b where m is slope and b is y-intercept.

We need to find slope and y-intercept.

Finding y-intercept

Looking at the graph, we can find y-intercept when x =0, the value of y is known as y-intercept.

So, when x =0, y=-1

So, y-intercept is -1

Finding Slope

Now, for finding slope, consider 2 points on graph

(0,-1) and (-2,0)

Slope can be found using formula: Slope=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

We have x_1=0, y_1=-1, x_2=-2, y_2=0

Putting values and finding slope:

Slope=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\\Slope=\frac{0-(-1)}{-2-0} \\Slope=\frac{0+1}{-2-0} \\Slope=\frac{1}{-2} \\Slope=-\frac{1}{2}

So, slope is m=-\frac{1}{2}

Equation of line

Now, equation of line having slope m=-\frac{1}{2} and y-intercept b = -1 is

y=mx+b\\y=-\frac{1}{2}x -1

So, equation of line shown in the graph is \mathbf{y=-\frac{1}{2}x -1}

(-7) × (-5) = 35
2 × (-8) = -16
(-11) × 4= (-44)
-8× 8 = (-64)
(-9) × (-9)= 81
(-17) × (-2) =34
(-10) ÷ -2 = 5
44 ÷ (-11)= (-4)

Bob and joe have a class together at Kensington college. They leave the class at the same time. Bob goes to the library at 4 mil
galben [10]

Solution

For this case we can create the following schema

We can use the definition of distance:

x= vt

We can find the relative velocity:

V_{\text{rel}}=4-2=2\frac{mi}{hr}

And the distance between both is required to be 2 mi so then we can find the time like this:

t=\frac{x}{v_{\text{rel}}}=\frac{2mi}{\frac{2mi}{hr}}=1hr

Then the answer is:

1 hr
