Answer:

Length = 20 inches

Width = 16 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

The area on the wall covered by a rectangle poster is 320 square inches.

The length of the poster is 1.25 times longer than the width of the poster.

Let x be the width of the poster.

Length of the poster = 1.25x

Area of a rectangular poster is

Area=length\times width

Area=1.25x\times x

320=1.25x^2

Divide both sides by 1.25.

\dfrac{320}{1.25}=x^2

256=x^2

Taking square root on both sides.

\pm 16=x

The dimensions can not be negative. So, x=16.

Length of the poster = 1.25(16)=20

Therefore, the length of the poster is 20 inches and width of the poster is 16 inches.

If width is X, then length is 1.25X
1.25X·X=320
1.25X²=320
X²=256
X=16 or X=-16(not this one...)
width=16in
length=16x1.25=20in
Those are your answers.

Mice21 [21]

Answer:

1.12 × 10^-3

Step-by-step explanation:

The computation of the width of the photograph is as follows:

As we know that

Area of the rectangle = length × width

33 ÷ 20 square inches = 1475 inches × width

So, the width is

= Length ÷ area

=  1475 inches ÷ (33 ÷ 20 square inches)

= 1.12 × 10^-3
