Asexual reproduction involves the reproduction of offspring from a single parent. It occurs in simple organisms. The offspring produce in this type of reproduction is identical to the parent as same genetic information is passed from the parent to the offspring. No segregation of gene takes place in this process. In sexual reproduction two parent are involved. This involves gamete formation. The segregation of genetic information takes place and randomly genes are transferred from parents to offsprings. This results in occurrence of genetic variations in the offspring. The offsprings produce by this reproduction are not genetically identical to their parents.
