(20 points) [URGENT] give a hypothesis on how the mass of potato chips is expected to change in each solution
lbvjy [14]

I predict that the potato in the lowest sugar solution

(water) will gain the most mass through osmosis, whereas the 80% sugar

concentration will lose the most mass through osmosis. I predict this

because I think that the potato chips will try to gain and lose water

between the two sides of its cell wall in order to reach an

equilibrium between them because the 80% sugar solution has a high

amount of sugar molecules, which can not diffuse through the membrane,

I think that the potato will lose water in order to make the solution

on the outside of its membrane equal to the water concentration on the

inside thus losing mass. I also predict that the other

concentrations (60%, 40%, and 20%) will lose mass, but in lower

numbers compared to the 80% sugar solution (the lower the

concentration, the higher the mass). However, since the distilled

water carries no sugar molecules, I think that the potato chip will

gain water to create a balance between the two sides of the cell wall,

making it gain mass.

Why is exposure more harmful to the fetus than mother
Temka [501]

Answer:The mother's antibodies can destroy the red blood cells of the fetus.

Explanation:

If a woman with an Rh negative (Rh-) blood group has a child with an Rh positive (Rh +) male, there is a possibility that the child is also Rh +. Although this has no consequences throughout pregnancy itself, as the mother's and fetus's blood does not come into direct contact during pregnancy, it can have serious consequences for subsequent pregnancies.

In fact, rupture of the placenta at the time of childbirth may allow some red blood cells from the fetus to pass into the maternal circulation and cause sensitization, meaning the woman's body will detect them and begin to make anti-human antibodies. Rh that will persist indefinitely in the blood. If a woman regenerates another Rh + child, the anti-Rh antibodies present in her blood will pass easily into the fetus's blood through the placenta and attack and destroy the fetus' red blood cells, which can lead to severe fetal anemia and serious repercussions that sometimes lead to intrauterine death.

What is the difference between a jetty and a breakwater?

Why would they be used?
frozen [14]
Breakwaters protect an anchorage from the effects of weather and longshore drift, while jetties protect against erosion, by keeping the waves from sweeping the sand away. Difference, they both protect against different things.
