Answer:

Helicase enzyme melts the DNA double helix and forms single stranded DNA strands.

Explanation:

Helicases are ATP dependent enzymes that bind to the DNA at the origin of replication. Helicases move along the DNA and use the energy of ATP to breakdown the hydrogen bonds between complementary base pairs that otherwise hold the two DNA strands together.

Breaking of hydrogen bonds releases two DNA strands from each other. These single-stranded DNA molecules then serve as the template for DNA replication.

What do you call a solution that has more OH-than H+
suter [353]

A s solution that has more OH- than H+ is known as a basic solution.

What is an hydroxide ion (OH-)?

A hydroxide ion is a chemical ion the contains ions of hydrogen and oxygen with - 1 as it's oxidation number.

When a compound that contains excess OH- is added to a solution it will cause an increase in the basic nature of the solution.

This is because the OH- has the ability to accept protons when in a aqueous solution thereby leading to the rise in pH of that solution.

Increase in pH of a solution signifies an increase in basic characteristics.

Question 1 (1 point)
-BARSIC- [3]

Answer:

Molecule not found in DNA is an amino acid.

Explanation:

DNA is a nucleic acid responsible for containing the genetic information of living beings. The basic structure of DNA consists of:

 • A sugar, deoxyribose.
 • Nucleotides, including adenine, guanine, cytosine and thymine.
 • Phosphate groups.

The information contained in DNA allows the synthesis of proteins necessary for the structure and function of living beings. Amino acids are part of proteins, but it is a molecule that is not found in DNA.

Which hormone increases osteoclast activity to release more calcium ions into the bloodstream?
Nesterboy [21]

Answer: both parathyroid hormone and calcitrol.

Explanation:

In the body calcium homeostasis, which is generally defined as the maintenance of specific internal conditions, is mediated by the endocrine system through hormonal control; hormones are usually specialized signal molecules derived from lipids or amino acids. This regulates the calcium flux between the bloodstream and the bone; and the hormones responsible, change the ratio of osteoclast activity to osteoblast activity -osteoblasts build bone while osteoclasts breakdown or degrade bone.

Hormones responsible include calcitonin (from special parafollicular cells in the thyroid gland), cacitrol (activated vitamin D) and the parathyroid hormone (from the parathyroid glands). These affect the absorption of calcium from the gut, or kidney reabsorption; both parathyroid hormone and calcitrol act by causing the release of calcium ions into the bloodstream as the bone is degraded by osteoclasts.
