We must isolate x on one side of the equation to get its value. to do that you do the opposite operation of each number on both sides.
the steps for this equation is:

1)  x+8+7=7
           -7    -7  (subtract 7 on both sides)

2)  x+8=0
        -8   -8      (subtract 8 on both sides)

3)x= -8          (the value of x is equal to -8)

A farmer finds that he can buy 5 sheep and 5 cows for $129or 10 sheep and 17 cows for $177 .how much will it cost him to buy 3 s
bezimeni [28]
Let the cost of one sheep and one cow be x and y respectively.
Therefore,

5x+5y=129
10x+17y =177

Solving the two equations,
Multiply the first equation by 2 and subtract the second from the results;
10x+10y = 258
10x+17y = 177
0x-7y = 81 => y= $-11.57 (cannot be a negative value). The details of the question need to be checked.

Now,
5x+5y = 129 => 5x-57.86 =129=>5x = 186.86 => x= $37.37

*1 A car is driving away from a crosswalk. The distance d (in feet) of the car from the crosswalk t
antoniya [11.8K]

Answer:

The change in the car's distance is 8 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets explain how to solve the problem

- A car is driving away from a crosswalk

- The distance d (in feet) of the car from the crosswalk t  seconds

since the car started moving is given by the formula d = t² + 3.5

- The time increasing from 1 second to 3 seconds

- We need to now the change of the car's distance from the crosswalk

∵ The equation of the distance is d = t² + 3.5

∵ The time is 1 second

∴ d = (1)² + 3.5

∴ d = 1 + 3.5 = 4.5 feet

∵ The time is 3 seconds

∴ d = (3)² + 3.5

∴ d = 9 + 3.5 = 12.5 feet

∵ The change of the distance = d of 3 sec - d of 1 sec

∵ d of 3 sec = 12.5 feet

∵ d of 1 sec = 4.5 feet

∴ The change of the distance = 12.5 - 4.5 = 8 feet

∴ The change in the car's distance is 8 feet
