Answer: 42804 people per square mile

Step-by-step explanation:

As we know Population density = \dfrac{Number\ of\ people}{Area}

Given, population of New York City =  8.55 million

Area of New York City  = 300 square miles

Then, population density of New York City = \dfrac{8.55\text{ million}}{300\text{ square miles}}

=\dfrac{8550000}{300\text{ square miles}}=28500\text{ people per square mile}   [1 million = 1,000,000]

Population of Manhattan =  1.64 million = 1640000

Area of Manhattan  = 23 square miles

population density of Manhattan = \dfrac{1640000}{23}\approx71304\text{ people per square mile}

Difference = 71304 - 28500 =42804

Hence, population density of Manhattan is 42804 people per square mile greater than that of New York City.

An exponential function is expressed in the form y=axb^x. The relation represents a growth when ________ and a decay when_______
ArbitrLikvidat [17]

Answer:

Growth when: b>1.

Decay when: 0<b<1.

Step-by-step explanation:

Any function in the form f(x) =a\times b^x , where a > 0, b > 0 and b not equal to 1 is called an exponential function with base b.

if 0 < b < 1.  It is an example of an exponential decay.

The general shape of an exponential with b > 1 is an example of exponential growth.

Hence,

An exponential function is expressed in the form y=a\times b^x The relation represents a growth when  b >1 and a decay when 0<b<1.

Does each equation represent a proportional relationship? Choose Yes or No.
max2010maxim [7]

Hi there!

»»————- ★ ————-««

I believe your answer is:

y = 7x - 3\leftarrow \text{No.}\\\\y = 150x \leftarrow \text{Yes.}

»»————- ★ ————-««

Here’s why:

⸻⸻⸻⸻

\boxed{\text{General Proportional Formula:}}\\\\y = kx\\\rule{150}{0.5}\\$\bullet \text{ } k - \text{Constant of Proportionality}\\\rule{150}{0.5}\\\text{Since } y=150x \text{ is in this form, we can say that it is a proportional relationship.}\\\rule{150}{0.5}\\\text{We can also tell if something is proportional by graphing them.}

\textbf{Proportional graphs go through the origin.}

⸻⸻⸻⸻

Since y = 7x - 3 does not pass the origin, it is not proportional. However, y = 150x does, so it is proportional.

Hope this helps you. I apologize if it’s incorrect.
