First of all, what is the definition of an epic hero? What makes an epic hero?

In homer's point of view, an epic hero must have/be these characteristics:

- Undying bravery
- A supernatural power or talent
- A noble birth
- A warrior
- Humility
- Worldly (Travels great distances to complete great deeds and missions)

Now comparing these traits to Ulysses, we come up with this:

- Undying bravery
He faces many challenges and yet, survives and conquers
- A supernatural power or talent:
           He is a mighty warrior
- A noble birth
He is the son of a descendant of Hermes (his mother) and King of the Cephallenians (his father)
- A warrior
He proves himself to be a mighty warrior by surviving all the challenges presented to him on his long quest.
- Humility
He is not arrogant and performs justice by executing the men and women who worked against him
- Worldly
He travels far and wide to finish his quest and return home safely.

A piece of information that is considered common knowledge does not need a citation.
earnstyle [38]

Answer:

True.

Explanation:

An author provides a variety of information through different sources in his/her work not only to substantiate or establish the credibility of his/her claim but also to propose a clear and effective understanding to the readers. This variety of information may include facts, quotations, statistics, etc. which could have been taken from a book, a journal, newspaper article, etc.

Citation is one of the crucial elements of literary writing not only to avoid plagiarism but also to validate the authenticity and originality of the work.

As per the question, the given assertion would be categorized as true as the information sharing common knowledge or general facts need not be cited due to the availability of such information in a number of sources. For example; 'Shakespeare is one of the greatest writers of the English language in general and drama in particular' which is commonly known by almost everyone and can be found in various sources. Thus, it is suggested that such information is not required to be cited. Therefore, the statement would be true.

Diary Entry on a visit to a desalination plant
sladkih [1.3K]

Today we visited the largest desalination plant in the United States.

The Carlsbad Desalination Plant is located in the San Diego County in California and it's the largest plant currently operating in the United States. The first thing that struck me was how massive it looked, the thing is huge! Not only is massive in size, but also in how mucho clean water it generates, at 50 million gallons of clean water! As impressive as this number is, it only represents 7% of the total intake for the San Diego County.

It opened in 2015 and the construction took almost 14 years, the idea for this desalination plant began after 5 years of drought in California, and now mor than ever we need to make better use of our resources.

I loved the visit! I hope to visit it with my family anytime soon.
