What was/were important part(s) of the affective individualism that arose during the 1700's?
Alex777 [14]

Affective individualism is an alleged process that occurred in industrialized countries in the 1700s, though its existence remains controversial.

The theory argues that, up to that point, the extended family and the wider community represented very strong ties for people, which made the nuclear family a smaller role in emotional fulfillment. This meant that marriages and procreation were often instrumental.

However, with the rise of affective individualism, families started to change in several ways:

  • The nuclear family became more important, and the centre of family life.
  • Having children became less instrumental an more driven by affective reasons.
  • Marriages were more and more commonly based on love, as opposed to convenience.
  • Sex became more important as a source of pleasure, and not only as an instrument for reproduction.

It is also argued that these changes, which for the most part accompanied industrialization, helped the development of capitalism.

The roles of private citizens in managing the environment actions that citizens can take to protect the environment
Kazeer [188]
Private citizens make up a huge part of the nation, thus they have a big role in managing the environment around them. They could do this in their own little ways such as keeping wastes to a minimum, providing environmental awareness to people by teaching them, reusing things and planting trees. In order to keep wastes to a minimum, the citizen should follow the protocol of segregating biodegradable materials from non-biodegradable ones and avoid putting their trashes along the streets or rivers. The citizen may also spread awareness by posting environmental-related issues on the internet or simply talking about it with friends or family members. Reusing things will also lessen the amount of waste in the environment. One example is by using a chocolate's tin can box into a container for letters or notes. Managing the environment is always interconnected with having more plants and trees in the surroundings. This can only be done if every citizen will try to cultivate his own little garden or plant some trees.
