All points that lie in a given line with a defined equation, they satisfy the equation such that when the values of x and y are substituted they satisfy the given equation.
Substituting values of y and x in the equation y = 14x +4
(8,6), (-8,-5), (-16,0), (-20,1) doesn't satisfy the equation.
therefore in this case there is no point that would lie in the line

If two supplementaryangles are in the ratio 2:3, find the angles.
kramer
The angles are 72 degrees and 108 degrees.

Explanation:

Angle 1 : Angle 2 = 2 : 3
Angle 1 = 2k
Angle 2 = 3k

Angle 1 + Angle 2 = 180 (supplementary angles)
2k + 3k = 180
5k = 180
k = 36

Angle 1 = 2k = 2 x 36 = 72 degrees
Angle 2 = 3k = 3 x 36 = 108 degrees

adelina 88 [10]

In order to determine the vertex of the given functions, consider that the general form of a quadrati function is:

y = ax² + bx + c

The value of x for the vertex is given by:

x = -b/2a

The value for y, based on the previous values of x, is the y value of the vertex. Use the previous expression to find the vertices:

1. y = x² + 8x - 6

x = -8/2(1) = -4

y(-4) = (-4)² + 8(-4) - 6 = 16 - 32 - 6 = -22

Hence, the vertex is (-4,-22)

2. y = -4x² - 24x - 5

x = -(-24)/2(-4) = -6

y(-6) = -4(-6)² - 24(-6) - 6 = -144 + 144 - 6 = -6

Hence, the vertex is (-6,-6)

3. y = 2x² - 3x + 7

x = -(-3)/2(2) = 3/4 = 0.75

y(3/4) = 2(3/4)² - 3(3/4) + 7 = 18/16 - 9/4 + 7 =5.875

Hence, the vertex is (0.75 , 5.875)

4. y = -x² + 5x - 6

x = -5/2(-1) = 5/2 = 2.5

y(5/2) = -(5/2)² + 5(5/2) - 6 = 0.25

Hence, the vertex is (2.5 , 0.25)

5. y = 1/2 x² + 6x - 5

x = - 6/(2(1/2)) = -6

y(-6) = 1/2 (-6)² + 6(-6) - 5 = -23

Hence, the vertex is (-6 , -23)

6. y = 4x² + 7

x = -0/2(4) = 0

y(0) = 4(0) + 7 = 7

Hence, the vertex is (0 , 7)

Rewrite the form In exponential form:
Log100 = x
andrey2020 [161]

Answer:

10^x=100

Step-by-step explanation:

You know how subtraction is the opposite of addition and division is the opposite of multiplication? A logarithm is the opposite of an exponent. You know how you can rewrite the equation 3 + 2 = 5 as 5 - 3 = 2, or the equation 3 × 2 = 6 as 6 ÷ 3 = 2? This is really useful when one of those numbers on the left is unknown. 3 + _ = 8 can be rewritten as 8 - 3 = _, 4 × _ = 12 can be rewritten as 12 ÷ 4 = _. We get all our knowns on one side and our unknown by itself on the other, and the rest is computation.

We know that 3^2=9; as a logarithm, the exponent gets moved to its own side of the equation, and we write the equation like this: \log_3{9}=2, which you read as "the logarithm base 3 of 9 is 2." You could also read it as "the power you need to raise 3 to to get 9 is 2."

One historical quirk: because we use the decimal system, it's assumed that an expression like \log1000 uses base 10, and you'd interpret it as "What power do I raise 10 to to get 1000?"

The expression \log100=x means "the power you need to raise 10 to to get 100 is x," or, rearranging: "10 to the x is equal to 100," which in symbols is 10^x=100.

(If we wanted to, we could also solve this: 10^2=100, so \log100=2)

nekit [7.7K]

Answer: the speed of the current is 0.6 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the speed of the current.

James is kayaking. He can row 3 mph in still water. If he can travel 6 miles downstream. Assuming he went with the current, it means that his total speed while travelling downstream is (3 + x)

Time = distance/speed

Time taken to travel downstream is

6/(3 + x)

In the same amount of time, he can travel 4 miles upstream. Assuming he went against the current, it means that his total speed while travelling downstream is (3 - x). Time taken to travel upstream is

4/(3 - x)

Since the time is the same, then

6/(3 + x) = 4/(3 - x)

Cross multiplying, it becomes

6(3 - x) = 4(3 + x)

18 - 6x = 12 + 4x

4x + 6x = 18 - 12

10x = 6

x = 6/10

x = 0.6 mph
