So, we want to first make this into equation form.

Say n = the number.

4 less:

-4

Than half a number

1/2n - 4

Is equal to 37 less

1/2n - 4 = -37

Than twice the number

1/2n - 4 = 2n - 37

So, move all like terms to the same side:

1/2n - 2n = -37 + 4

-1 1/2n = -34

/-1 1/2      /- 1 1/2

n = 22 2/3
