The crisis in Syria is a result of the collapse of the political sphere and rise of instability across the Middle East beginning
Sav [38]

The Arab Spring was a loosely related group of protests that ultimately resulted in regime changes in countries such as Tunisia, Egypt and Libya. Not all of the movements, however, could be deemed successful—at least if the end goal was increased democracy and cultural freedom. In fact, for many countries enveloped by the revolts of the Arab Spring, the period since has been hallmarked by increased instability and oppression. Given the significant impact of the Arab Spring throughout northern Africa and the Middle East, it’s easy to forget the series of large-scale political and social movements arguably began with a single act of defiance.

The Arab Spring began in December 2010 when Tunisian street vendor Mohammed Bouazizi set himself on fire to protest the arbitrary seizing of his vegetable stand by police over failure to obtain a permit. Bouazizi’s sacrificial act served as a catalyst for the so-called Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia. The street protests that ensued in Tunis, the country’s capital, eventually prompted authoritarian president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to abdicate his position and flee to Saudi Arabia. He had ruled the country with an iron fist for more than 20 years.

Which statement regarding tokugawa leyasu exemplifies absolutism
alexandr402 [8]
Ahy trained historians of Japan in the Western world was too small to sustain such an enterprise. Although that number has grown, the general editors have thought it best to draw on Japanese specialists for contributions in areas where they retain a clear authority. In such cases the act of translation itself involves a form of editorial cooperation that requires the skills of a trained historian whose name deserves acknowledgment.

Instructions:Select the correct answer. How did the invention of the Gutenberg press affect the Renaissance?
Sidana [21]
Prior to the printing press, there were only 30,000 copies of books in Europe and 75% of them were in Latin. The printing press made it possible to print more books in multiple languages which helped increase literacy and education throughout Europe because books were more accessible. The New Testament was also translated into German by Martin Luther. However, the Church did not like the printing press because it made it impossible for them to censor books. This means that authors were able to spread new ideas about science and religion which the Church did not agree with. While the spread of new ideas helped revolutionize society during the Renaissance, it created a lot of controversy with the Church.

The Klondike Gold Rush, Dawes Act, and Homestead Act were contributing factors to...
Virty [35]

Answer:

The Klondike Gold Rush, Dawes Act, and Homestead Act were contributing factors to the westward expansion.

Explanation:

Supported by Manifest Destiny, the westward expansion was not only an occupation of the land but a gradual process. Each part of this process had the contribution of the Klondike Gold Rush, the Dawes Act, and the Homestead Act.

Now let's see why and how:

 • Klondike Gold Rush: beyond the fact to find gold in the North, the Klondike Gold Rush contribute to massive migration and the settlement in parts of Canada. Around 30,000 of the 100,000 or so prospectors that set out for the Klondike actually made it there.
 • Dawes Act: despite it's not an expansion movement, the Dawes Act break up the Native American tribes and to see them as individuals. However, this act opened space to the settlement of non-natives.
 • Homestead Act: this act officialized the westward expansion. The act, which took effect January 1, 1863, granted 160 acres (65 hectares) of unappropriated public lands to anyone who paid a small filing fee and agreed to work on the land and improve it, including by building a residence, over a five-year period.
