Get the mixed number into one fraction
\frac{3}{2}  +  \frac{3}{5}  +  \frac{1}{8}
Get a common denominator
\frac{60}{40}  +  \frac{24}{40} +  \frac{5}{40}
Now add
\frac{89}{40}
You can get it back to a mixed number
2 \frac{9}{40}

Ninety six passengers rode a train. Tickets for regular coach seats are $114. Tickets for sleeper car seats are $295. The receip
MrRa [10]
C = amount of folks buying coach tickets
s = amount fo folks buying sleeper car tickets

we know the train had a total of 96 passengers, so, whatever "c" and "s" are
c + s = 96

we know all tickets sold for all 96 passengers was 19994, so, if "c" folks rode coach, each ticket is 114, thus 114*c is  how much money was from couch, or 114c

if "s" folks rode the sleeper car, we know each ticket is 295 each, so 295*s is how much money was from the sleeper car

we also know, the total for all tickets is 19994

thus    114c + 295s = 19994

thus   \bf \begin{cases}&#10;c+s=96\implies \boxed{s}=96-c\\&#10;114c+295s = 19994\\&#10;----------\\&#10;114c+295\left( \boxed{96-c} \right)=19994&#10;\end{cases}

solve for "s", to see how many folks rode coach

what about the sleeper car? well, s = 96 - c

What is the interquartile range of the following set of numbers? 114, 90, 83, 101, 97, 142, 117, 87, 72
Likurg_2 [28]
Hello!

First we have to find the median

We have to order the numbers from least to greatest

72, 83, 87, 90, 97, 101, 114, 117, 142

The median is 97

Next we have to find quartile 1

you look for the median for the numbers under 97

It is 83 and 87

You get the average

83 + 87 = 170

170 / 2 = 85

quartile 1 is 85

Next we find quartile 3

Look for the median for the numbers above 97

The numbers are 114 and 117

Get the average

114 + 117 = 231

231/2 = 115.5

Now you find the range between the quartiles

You do quartile 3 - quartile 1

115.5 - 85 = 30.5

The answer is 30.5

Hope this helps!

Vera_Pavlovna [14]

Answer:

47 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Alex, Bruno, and Charles each add the lengths of two sides of the same triangle correctly.

They get  27 cm, 35 cm, and 32 cm, respectively. Find the perimeter of the triangle, in cm

find:

Find the perimeter of the triangle, in cm. What is the most efficient strategy you can find to solve this problem?

<u>solution:</u>

27, 35, and 32 are each the sum of a different pair of sides of the triangle

Then 27 + 35 + 32 is the sum of all three sides, each counted twice.

Thus, 27 + 35 + 32 = 94 is twice  the perimeter

therefore,

the perimeter of the triangle is 94/2 = 47 cm.
