Well the cause of a certain event in history will mean something happens.
The effect is the result of the event happening

For example. With 9/11 the cause was the twin towers collapsing. The effect would have been thousands of people dying as the result of the planes being highjacked

The cause of an event is something happened before the event.

The effect of an event is something happened after the event.

You'll have the 'cause' first, then the event will happen.

After the event happened, you will get the 'effects'.

Basically,
cause = why/how the event will happen?
effect = what changes the event brings to us?

all other factors being equal what are the chances that a guest worker will head towards southern italy rather than germany or b
zavuch27 [327]
I don't know what "all other" factors could mean - since we don't know what factors have already been mentioned - but I assume that the pay and work conditions would be the same (those could be the "all other" here and the difference is Italy vs Germany/Belgium).

Generally, Italy is not a very likely destination for migrant workers, since it has recently been struggling economically. The payment, working conditions and work stability are likely to be better in Germany or Belgium, so if one can find a job, there, one is more likely to go to Germany or Belgium
