Please help!<br>what polynomial must be added to <br>−5x^3 + 4x − 3 so that the sum is x^2 − x − 1?
lakkis [162]
<h3><u>Solution:- </u></h3>

Let the number to be added be A

Now,

\begin{gathered}\implies\quad \sf −5x^3 + 4x − 3  + A = x^2 − x − 1 \\\end{gathered}

Transposing (−5x³+ 4x − 3 ) to other side-

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf   A = x^2 − x − 1 -( −5x^3 + 4x − 3) \\\end{gathered}

Remember if there is a -ve sign before a bracket the signs of whole of the terms changes on opening bracket

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf   A = x^2 − x − 1 + 5x^3 - 4x + 3\\\end{gathered}

Putting like terms together -

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf   A = 5x^3 +x^2 - x -4x +3 -1  \\\end{gathered}

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf   A = 5x^3 +x^2 -5x +2 \\\end{gathered}

\longrightarrowTherefore, 5x³+x²-5x +2 should be added to −5x³+ 4x − 3 to get x²− x − 1

Evan used base-10 blocks to model the product of 3 and 0.51.
Lilit [14]

Base 10 blocks are used to perform arithmetic operations.

To model the product of 3 and 0.51, Evan needs <em>3 copies of 5 tenths and 1 hundredths.</em>

The expression can be represented as:

\mathbf{3 \times 0.51}

Express 0.51 as 0.5 + 0.01

\mathbf{3 \times 0.51 = 3 \times (0.5 + 0.01)}

  • 0.5 means 5 tenths
  • 0.01 means 1 hundredths
  • 3 means that, the above blocks are needed in three places.

Hence, Evan needs <em>3 copies of 5 tenths and 1 hundredths.</em>

Simplify each expression. State any excluded values, Show your work.
Lerok [7]

Answer:

\frac{3x^{4}+10x^{2} }{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

2x^{2}  + x^{3}(\frac{6x}{10} )

2x^{2}  + x^{3}(\frac{3x}{5} )

2x^{2}  + \frac{3xx^{3}}{5}

\\ 2x^{2}  + \frac{3x^{4}}{5}

\frac{5(2x^{2} )}{5}   + \frac{3x^{4}}{5}

\frac{5(2x^{2} )+3x^{4}}{5}

\frac{10x^{2} +3x^{4}}{5}

\frac{3x^{4}+10x^{2} }{5}
