Okay so i cant really see the numbers but i can explain....
take the area of the garden box... this will be in centimeters, 
100cm make 1m so 400cm would make 4m
so no you convert it to meters or basically you would move the decimal over two places :)

x²   =  (26)²  -   (24)²    ⇒   x  =  √ (26)² - (24)²      x  =  √ 676 - 576   ft

x  = √100  ft

x  =  10  ft
