Flowers of orchid species Ophrys bombyliflora look and smell like female bumblebees. This attracts the male bumblebees flying ne

arby to the flowers. Thus, pollen sticks to the head and abdomen of the bumblebee, which causes pollination. This orchid species is only pollinated by these bees, which is why the species is known as bumblebee orchids. What mode of evolution is represented by this example? A)Coevolution B)Punctuated equilibrium C)Adaptive radiation

I would say A) Coevolution because the two species would evolve in response to one another. Flowers and their pollinators must evolve together. For example, if the flower has a mutation that no longer attracts the bumblebees, it will not reproduce. Then the hummingbird would have to find a new food source.

Why does maltose have both alpha and beta anomers?
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

Maltose is a disaccharide sugar made up of two units of glucose.

In cyclic structure, the glucose exists in two anomeric forms; alpha and beta.

These glucose units can either joined by α (1→4) glycosidic bond or by β (1→4) glycosidic bond.

Thus, the maltose exists in two anomeric form alpha and beta.

I think homologous structures is a great example and idea that supports the theory of evolution. Homologous structures shows us how our futures evolved by natural selection.
