Burning a draft card in public is an example of the act of civil disobedience.

Further Explanation:

Civil disobedience is another form of passive resistance which means deny to follow any commands or demands of the government. The protesters followed non-violent methods as well as violent methods. American civil right movement is the best example of civil disobedience. The idea was followed in the nationalist movements of India and Africa. It is the type of ritualistic violation of law rather than rejecting a system completely.  Leaders who followed passive resistance method appealed to the masses for any illegal actions to be non-violent. The Conservatives see an act of civil disobedience as anarchy. The philosophical root of civil disobedience lies in the western thought of Cicero, Henry David Thoreau, Thomas Jefferson, John Locke,Thomas Aquinas. They all sought to justify the conduct of harmony and superhuman moral law. The concept of civil disobedience is formulated by Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi formulated the philosophy of Satyagraha. Later, the actions were taken in the Salt March. By following the same philosophy of Satyagraha, civil right movements in America ended up their racialsegregation in Southern states. The philosophy of civil disobedience is followed in protests like Freedom Rides and Greensboro sit-in.
