"a" is being divided by 2.
You want a alone, not divided by 2.
The operation that is opposite to division is multiplication.
Multiplication undoes division.
Multiply a/2 by 2 to get a.
A rule of equations is that you must do the same operation to both sides of the equation, so you must multiply both sides by 2.

18 = a/2

18 * 2 = a/2 * 2

36 = a

a = 36

The answer is y^-1 :) when you have two exponents over a y in a fraction or divison, you always subtract the top from the bottom. hope this helps!

Bob has 3 children, the product of their age is 72, his youngest child called justice, what are their ages
Marina CMI [18]
I have encountered this question before. Since only the product of the ages is given, there are a lot of possible combinations.

3 kids, has a youngest child - means that the 3 kids have different ages.

I performed a prime factorization on 72.

72 ÷ 2 = 36
36 ÷ 2 = 18
18 ÷ 2 =   9
  9 ÷ 3 =   3
  3 ÷ 3 =   1

1 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 = 72

Possible age combination:

1 x 8 x 9 = 72
2 x 4 x 9 = 72
3 x 4 x 6 = 72
1 x 6 x 12 = 72
1 x 4 x 18 = 72
