The video you just watched revolved around a poet's interpretation of the moment Julius Caesar chose to cross the Rubicon River.
stellarik [79]

Alea iacta est ("The die is cast") is a variation of a Latin phrase (iacta alea est)  attributed by Suetonius to Julius Caesar who pronounced it in the year 49 B.C. when he was leading his army across the Rubicon river in the current territories of Northern Italy. Subsequently, he entered in Italy heading his army and defying the Roman Senate and it meant the beginning of the civil war versus Pompey and the Optimates.

  • Plutarch, referred to the same event in his written testimonies and reported the phrase but stating it was pronounced in Greek instead of Latin and that its translation meant: <em>'Let the die be cast'.</em>
  • Suetonius described the same situation, reporting a very similar phrase but not exactly the same. Let's include the exact excerpt of his writings where he did so.

<em>Caesar: '... iacta alea est,' inquit.</em>

<em>Caesar said, "The die has been cast."</em>

Thefore there are two very similar versions of the same historical events. Usually the Latin version is the most widely known, as the Latin language was more widespread all over Europe and gave rise to all the current family of Latin languages (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, etc).

Which statement explains why president Andrew Jackson had little influence over reconstruction policy during his term in office
pantera1 [17]

Resources. Brazil is a very large country with many mineral resources. Among the important mineral resources are iron ore, manganese, gold, diamonds, and bauxite. Manganese is a metal similar to iron. Bauxite is the ore from which aluminum is made.

Brazil also raises many important farm products. More coffee is raised in Brazil than in any other country. This industry supplies many workers with jobs. Brazil also raises sugar cane, cacao, (from which comes cocoa and chocolate), cotton, rice, corn, potatoes, and wheat.

Animals of commercial value raised in Brazil include hogs, cattle, and sheep. Cattle are raised in the south and south-central states. Sheep are raised in the Sertão Region.

Brazil's numerous rivers and streams provide a home for fish and furnish water power to make electricity. They also form an important network of water transportation to carry goods from the interior to the coastal ports.

In recent years, persons and industries moved into South America's interior. They cut down trees and leveled some of the rain forests, especially near the Amazon. In 1992, Brazil held an "Earth Summit" to discuss ways to solve this problem. People from 176 countries were there.
