If you're running for 20 minutes, that means you swim for 20 minutes (40-20=20).

Calculate the calories you will burn by running.

20*20 =400.

Then calculate the calories you will burn swimming.

20*10=200.

Then add them together.

400+200 =600.

The answer is 600 calories.

40 min - total time of workout.
20 min - of running workout
40-20=20 min of swimming workout
r=20

20×20+r10=40
We know that r equals to 20 now
20×20+20×10=40
400+200=600

Answer: 600 calories were burns while doing a 20 minute swimming workout and 20 minute running workout.

Pilar is playing with a motorized toy boat. She puts the boat in a lake and it travels 400m at a constant speed. On the way back
ankoles [38]

Answer:

The trip normally takes 8 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

The given information states that the away distance the boat traveled = 400 m

The time traveled at the same initial speed , v₁, by the boat on the way back = 2 minutes

The increase in speed of the boat by Pilar = 10 m/min

The new speed, v₂ = v₁ + 10

The time for the return trip, t₂ = 60 seconds (1 minute) faster than time for the trip, t₁

t₂ = t₁ - 1

Therefore we have;

v₁ × t₁ = v₁×2 + v₂×(t₂-2) = 400

v₁×2 + (v₁ + 10)×(t₂-2) = 400

(v₁ + 10)×t₂ - 20 = 400

But v₁ = 400/t₁ = 400/(t₂ + 1)

Which gives;

(400/(t₂ + 1) + 10)×t₂ - 20 = 400

10×(t₂²+ 36·t₂-2)/(t₂+1) = 400

10·t₂²+ 10·t₂-420 = 0

t₂²+ t₂-42 = 0

(t₂ - 7)(t₂ + 6) = 0

t₂ = 7 minutes or -6 minutes

Given that t₂ is a natural number, we have, t₂ = 7 minutes

Whereby, t₂ = t₁ - 1, we have;

7 = t₁ - 1

t₁ = 1 + 7 = 8 Minutes

The trip normally takes 8 minutes

Solve S=2(lw + lh + wh) for w
vovikov84 [41]
Dividing by 2, we have S/2=lw+lh+wh. After that, we subtract lh from both sides to get S/2-lh=lw+wh. Next, we divide both sides by w to get (S/2)/w=l+h. Next, we divide by S/2 to get 1/w=(l+h)/(S/2). Lastly, we multiply by w and divide by (l+h)/(S/2) to get w=(S/2)/(l+h)

The equation of a line is
-2x+5t=-20
what is the x-intercept of the line?
vampirchik [111]

The x intercept of the line is at x = 10.

The x intercept is always the value of x when all other values are equal to 0. So in this case, we put 0 in for t and then solve.

-2x + 5t = -20

-2x + 5(0) = -20

-2x = -20

x = 10
