In planet Aggieus DNA replication is known to be conservative. Researchers kept replicating alien bacteria in media supplied wit

h 15N and then isolated a single bacteria and placed it into 14N containing media.

Answer:

1 bacterial cell would contain 15N DNA

Explanation:

According to conservative model of DNA replication, the two DNA strands do not separate from each other and direct the synthesis of entirely new DNA molecule.

Here, a single bacteria had 15N DNA strands and then it was placed in N14 media. All the subsequent divisions would utilize 14N.

After one division: One 15N DNA and one 14N DNA

After two divisions : One 15N DNA and three 14N DNA

After three divisions: One 15N DNA and seven 14N DNA

Hence only one bacterial cell will contain 15N DNA

The lock-and-key analogy for enzymes applies to the specificity of enzymes _____. A) as they form their tertiary and quaternary
xeze [42]

The correct answer is: B) binding to their substrate

The catalytic mechanism of an enzyme starts when the substrate binds to its active site (specific region of an enzyme). There is a theory (lock and key) that explains the mechanism of this binding: the lock is the enzyme and the key is the substrate and only if they fit the enzyme will work. The binding of the substrate to the enzyme causes conformational changes of the enzyme, and as a result, products are formed. The products are then released from the surface of tat enzyme. The enzyme is regenerated for another reaction cycle.
