Sophia’s school took a field trip. A total of 21 vehicles were needed for the trip. Some students took the bus, and some student

s car-pooled. There were 30 people on each bus and 4 people in each car. 318 people altogether attended the trip. How many buses and cars were needed for the trip?

We know there were 21 vehicles so one of the equations is:

c+b=21

We can find  the second equation with the other given information:

30b+4c=318

We can use manipulate the first equation then use substitution to solve the system:

c=21-b

We can plug this into the second equation:

30b+4(21-b)=318
30b+84-4b=318
26b+84=318
26b=234
b=9

Now we can plug this into one of the original equations to solve for c (the first equation is easier):

c+9=21
c=12

You can check your work by plugging the answers into the two equations:

12+9=21
21=21

(30)(9)+(4)(12)=318
270+48=318
318=318

There are 9 buses and 12 cars.

I need help finding the slope, identifying the initial value and writing An equation for a linear function and finding the X ans
pishuonlain [190]

Answer/Step-by-step explanation:

✔️Slope (m) using the two points (2, 4.58) and (5, 4.28):

slope (m) = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1} = \frac{4.28 - 4.58}{5 - 2} = \frac{-0.3}{3} = -0.1

Slope (m) = -0.1

✔️Initial Value = y-intercept = b

To find b, substitute x = 2, y = 4.58, and m = -0.1 into y = mx + b.

(Note: y is P(t) and x is t).

Thus:

4.58 = (-0.1)(2) + b

4.58 = -0.2 + b

Add 0.2 to both sides

4.58 + 0.2 = b

4.78 = b

b = 4.78

Initial value = 4.78

✔️Equation for the linear function:

Substitute b = 4.78, and m = -0.1 into P(t) = mt + b

Thus the equation would be:

P(t) = -0.1t + 4.78

✔️The y-intercept = initial value = 4.78

✔️The x-intercept = the value of t when P(t) = 0.

To get this, substitute P(t) = 0 into P(t) = -0.1t + 4.78.

Thus:

0 = -0.1t + 4.78

Add 0.1t to each side

0.1t = 4.78

Divide both sides by 0.1

t = 47.8

x-intercept = 47.8

Consider the given function and the given interval. f\(x\) = (x - 7)**2 text(, ) [5 text(, ) 11] (a) Find the average value fave
Jet001 [13]

a. f has an average value on [5, 11] of

f_{\rm ave}=\displaystyle\frac1{11-5}\int_5^{11}(x-7)^2\,\mathrm dx=\frac{(x-7)^3}{18}\bigg|_5^{11}=\frac{4^3-(-2)^3}{18}=4

b. The mean value theorem guarantees the existence of c\in(5,11) such that f(c)=f_{\rm ave}. This happens for

(c-7)^2=4\implies c-7=\pm2\implies c=9\text{ or }c=5
