Gemiola [76]
By the Treaty of Paris (signed Dec. 10, 1898), Spain renounced all claim to Cuba, ceded Guam and Puerto Rico to the United States, and transferred sovereignty over the Philippines to the United States for $20,000,000. The Spanish-American War was an important turning point in the history of both antagonists.

In August 2018, alt-right figurehead Jason Kessler organized the Unite the Right 2 Rally in Washington, D.C. to advocate for "wh
IceJOKER [234]

Answer:

adopting the rhetoric of minority status.

Explanation:

Jason Kessler (born in 1983) is an American white nationalist, infamous as the organizer of the Unite the Right rallies, the first of which was held on Charlottesville, Virginia, on August 12, 2017. The 2018 Unite the Right 2 Rally was held in Washington, D.C. after he was denied permission to organize it in Charlottesville again, as that rally turned violent and a counter-protester was killed by a white supremacist.

Kessler is a known advocate of the white genocide theory, which states that there's a deliberate plot to replace white people with people of color, in what Kessler and others describe as the "browning of America". White nationalists who subscribe to this theory are adopting the rhetoric of minority status, by acting as if they consider themselves an oppressed or endangered minority, which needs to be protected from oppression, forced assimilation, or genocide. White nationalists claim they don't hate other races, but that they're only defending what they call "white civil rights", ie. the right of white people to exist. The second rally was in fact applied for under the name of "White Civil Rights Rally".
