remove parenthesis : 2/3 - 5/6 + 9/4 - 3/5

add fractions based on lcm : 40/60 - 50/60 + 135/60 - 36/60

equal denominator so combine fractions : 40 - 50 + 135 - 36 / 60

add/subtract : 40 - 50 + 135 - 36 = 89

answer ; 89/60

Deffense [45]

Consider the fraction \dfrac{k+7}{4k+28}.

1. You can see that the denominator 4k+28 can be simplified to expression 4(k+7), because 4k=4·k and 28=4·7, so using the distributive property you can write that 4k+28=4(k+7).

2. Then the initial fraction becomes

\dfrac{k+7}{4k+28}= \dfrac{k+7}{4(k+7)}.

3. The nominator and the denominator have the common divisor k+7, then you can divide top and bottom by k+7:

\dfrac{k+7}{4k+28}= \dfrac{k+7}{4(k+7)}=\dfrac{1}{4}.

Answer: \dfrac{1}{4}

Janet is buying a $28 necklace. The store reduces the price by 20% and then applies a $2 off coupon. How much will Janet pay for
Leokris [45]
Okay well the starting is 28 dollars, right. But since there is a 20 percent discount, you have to turn 20% to a decimal. That means moving the decimal sign twice to the left to make it .20. From the it would be .20*28, that should equal 5.6. Now, that 5.6 is the amount you have to take away, it is the price of the sale. From then, you subtract which is 28-5.6 which should be 22.4. From that 22.4 you now take away two dollars and then it should be 22.4-2 which should be 20.4. Now that is your answer, 20.4.

Lydia also likes using the standard algorithm for multiplication. She has to solve 32 x 8.25. Recommend another strategy to Lydi
Setler79 [48]

Answer:

We can use distributive law for the multiplication

And after multiplication result will be 264

Step-by-step explanation:

Lydia has to multiply 32×8.25

She is using standard algorithm of multiplication

Now we have to find the other way of multiplication of  32×8.25

We can use distributive law for the multiplication of the above number

We can write 8.25 as 8+0.25

So multiplication will become 32 ( 8+0.25 ) = 256 + 8 = 264

So after multiplication result will be 264
