<span>The difference between a sentence and a fragment is that a sentence is a complete thought and can stand on its own, whereas a fragment is incomplete and has to exist within another sentence. Thus, 1. is a sentence. 2. is also a sentence. 3. is a fragment. 4. is a sentence. and 5. is a sentence. Only and skate as fast as possible is a fragment. </span>

For the qustion given above, the following are sentences:

1. Each winter, I go ice skating with friends from my neighborhood.

2. We hurry to the ice.

3. Try to catch each other.

4. Sometimes I fall down.

The only fragment out of all the statement given is this:

And skate as fast as possible.

A simple sentence and an independent clause have one characteristic in common; the two of them express complete thoughts, that is, they can stand on their own as a sentence which expresses a complete thought. Dependent clauses and phrases on the other hand are known as fragments, this is because, they do not possess one or two of the constituents such as predicate, subjects, etc, that are needed to form a complete sentence. Thus, the fragment in the question given above does not express a complete thought.

Dive and five are a pair of eye rhymes?
otez555 [7]
It is false that dive and five are a pair of eye rhymes.
Eye rhymes refers to words which are written similarly, but have different pronunciations. For example, love and move - as you can see, their spelling differs only in one letter, but their pronunciation is not similar at all. This is not the case in dive and five - they are both written and pronounced similarly.

Write a argumentative essay arguing whether elementary ayo children should own a cell phone. Make sure to explain your reasoning
Alex_Xolod [135]

Answer:

HERE YA GO

Explanation:

Should kids have cell phones?  (Persuasion)

In today’s society, many kids are walking around with cell phones.  Seventy-seven percent of kids ages twelve to seventeen have a cell phone.  The main reasons why kids have cell phones are safety, convenience, affordability, responsibility, and bonding through texting.

First, safety is the biggest issue for parents.  A kid having a cell phone can call home or emergency services when trouble arises.  It also gives the parent the ability to locate their whereabouts with GPS features.  Also, if kids are lost, hurt, scared, or witnessing an incident, the phone is there for them.  Life is getting more difficult and it is essential for a kid to carry a cell phone with them at all times for their safety and the parent’s peace of mind.

The second is the convenience of having a cell phone.  Giving kids mobile phones not only offers them a more convenient way to call home than finding a payphone, but also helps you keep in constant contact with your kids.  Cell phones can also help if your kid makes a change of plans with a sports activity, friends, or a sleepover.  It helps kids in contacting other friends regarding homework questions and projects due.  Furthermore, it helps parents out in the event of changes being made.

The third is the affordability of a cell phone.  There are tons of cell phones today on the market that you can get at low cost or no cost.  Prepaid phone plans and the ability to add a line to your parent's account are very inexpensive.

The fourth is cell phones teach your child responsibility.  It teaches a child to watch their minutes, texting restrictions, application management, and to keep track of their phone.

In conclusion, kids should have cell phones to ensure that they know what’s expected from them because a good parent-child relationship starts with good communication.  It not only makes the kids feel safer, but it also puts the parents at ease in many ways.

How to write a formal letter???!!!!
Alex

write the sender’s address and telephone number on the top left hand side of the page. If you are representing a company, write the company’s address. If you are the sender, write your address. Write your street address on the second line. Write your city, state, and zip code on the line below that. Include your telephone under your address. In cases where you represent a business, you can put your logo and address right in the middle of the page. Make sure to center it so that it looks uniform.

Place the date directly below the sender's address. It should be one line beneath the sender’s address (two hard returns on a keyboard). The date is important for two reasons: if you're trying to get the person or organization to complete a task in a timely manner (send a paycheck, fix an order, etc.), it will give them a time frame to work with or if you need to save a copy of the letter for legal reasons or posterity, the date is absolutely necessary. If you are writing in a Modified Block style, everything is formatted to the left except for the date and closing. When writing the date, tab over to the center of the page and place the date in the Place a comma between the month and the year. Place the recipient’s name one line beneath the date (two hard returns on a keyboard). Include his or her title (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Miss, Dr. etc.). Follow the recipient’s name with his/her job title. Below the name, write the name of the company. One line below that, write the recipient’s street address. On the next line, write the recipient’s city, state, and zip code. If you do not know the recipient’s title, do some background research or call the company to find out. Always use a woman’s preference (Mrs. Ms., Miss or Dr.) If you do not know a woman’s preference, use Ms.Give the person you're addressing a salutation. "Dear Sir/Madam" works fine, or if you know the name of the person, address them directly; ensure, however, that you address them formally using "Rev.", "Dr.", "Mr.", "Mrs.", or "Ms.", and include their full name if known. Place a colon after the salutation and add a line (two hard returns) between the salutation and the body of the letter. If you know the recipient and typically address them by his or her first name, it is fine to use only the first name. (i.e. Dear Cody:) Write the body of the letter. The body of the letter need not be more than three paragraphs. If you can't say it in three paragraphs or less then you're probably not being concise enough. Single space and left justify each paragraph within the body. In the first paragraph, write a friendly opening and then state the reason or goal of the letter. Cut straight to the chase. In the second paragraph, use examples to stress or underline your point, if possible. Concrete, real examples are always better than hypothetical examples. In the final paragraph, briefly summarize your purpose in writing and suggest how you might want to proceed further. Sign off your letter with the appropriate salutation. Leave space between your salutation and your printed name for a signature, if possible. "Yours sincerely," "Sincerely," and "Best," are all appropriate. Leave a space under your printed name for your signature. Finish with your title underneath your signature if applicable. If you are writing in Modified Block style, everything is left justified (the same as Block Style) except for the date and the closing. Tab to the center of the page and then write your closing.
