Why did Jefferson have little power over the judiciary
Yuri [45]

As Jefferson was the third President and the Federal Court system was designed to have life-time appointments, many of the original holders of Federal judicial posts were held by Federalist appointees who had not yet died in office or resigned.

So, Jefferson found himself waiting for turnover on the bench without much success.

The Big Question: Did the goals of American government change from the Declaration of Independence to the Constitution?

Yes, the goals of the Declaration of independence changed to the constitution because the DOI set the ideas of what they wanted a fair government to look like and the constitution outlined it and set it into stone. The constitution is what set our government up for our rights as citizens and the DOI helped it get there. The constitution fulfils the amendments of the Declaration.

Compare and Contrast: The Articles of Confederation, Preambles and Articles I-III and United States Constitution, Preamble

What do these two documents have in common?

They both have laws made by the legislature. They both levy their own militias. They can allow states to levy taxes. One state cannot enter war by itself is under both the constitution and Articles as well.

What makes these two documents different?

The constitution is evolved from the Articles. The Articles only has the congress and the constitution has two. The Articles is a weak set of government ruling and was the original document set up. The advancement of this was through the constitution where we are now allowed to regulate trade, collect taxes, draft soldiers and the constitution is a developed government.

The Declaration of Independence

How does this selection of the Declaration of Independence define the purpose of government in America?

This defines the purpose of the government because people should have their natural human rights, to life, liberty, and property (pursuit of happiness.) Question 1: Why are governments created and where do they get their powers?

We have governments because they want to maintain social order, have military protection, goods and power to keep citizens safe and have the rights owed to them. We have governments to have happiness, live healthy and have our own opportunities as citizens. They gain power from the people and being voted into the government by popular sovereignty and just powers from the people.

Question 2: When should governments be changed and who should change them?

The government should be altered or changed on a regular basis because things in the country and world are always changing and make former systems better. We need greater changes in our government when our citizens are not safe or are being let down. Our people are not all being treated equal or looked out for their best interests. Everyone should have their rights and this should be changed when the government is not doing the correct government work that is in the best interest for citizens. The people under the government should change who is governing because its the peoples country.

Question 3: Should it be easy to change governments often?

I feel like it should be easy to change a government but not often a direct reasoning and conversation through the people and elected officials as to why this government should be changed and its validity to the people of the country. This needs to be changed for the greater good of the people, economically, socially and politically.
