Prohibition was considered to be an epic failure of policy, because although it technically made the sale and consumption of alcohol illegal, people still continued to drink, however now this was being done illegally. This meant that there was a high demand for illegal alcohol, which mean that many organized crime units and mobsters rushed to the opportunity to profit off of illegal alcohol.
