You spend $55.78 more by purchasing the luxury items

Step-by-step explanation:

The table:

→ Item         :    Name brand    :    Store brand

→ Jeans       :    $35.95             :    $19.95

→ Sneakers :    $34.65             :    $15.98

→ Shirt         :    $15.30              :    $9.40

→ Socks (3)  :    $6.99               :    $4.99

→ Dress       :    $42.96             :    $29.75

The luxury items are the Name brand items

To solve the problem find the difference between the prices of the same items and then add all of these differences to find how much more you spend by purchasing the Name brand items

∵ The price of the Name brand jeans is $35.95

∵ The price of the store brand jeans is $19.95

∴ The difference = 35.95 - 19.95 = $16

∵ The price of the Name brand sneakers is $34.65

∵ The price of the store brand sneakers is $15.98

∴ The difference = 34.65 - 15.98 = $18.67

∵ The price of the Name brand shirt is $15.30

∵ The price of the store brand jeans is $9.40

∴ The difference = 15.30 - 9.40 = $5.90

∵ The price of the Name brand socks is $6.99

∵ The price of the store brand socks is $4.99

∴ The difference = 6.99 - 4.99 = $2

∵ The price of the Name brand dress is $42.96

∵ The price of the store brand dress is $29.75

∴ The difference = 42.96 - 29.75 = $13.21

Now find the total difference between the two brands

∵ The total difference = 16 + 18.67 + 5.90 + 2 + 13.21

∴ The total difference = $55.78

You spend $55.78 more by purchasing the luxury items
